Flair Friday!

I love all these Friends with Flair!!! Give yourselves a hand!! Leave love along your way!!

{click to enlarge}

Our unofficial theme this week was Halloween, but I've done so many of those lately that I chose to use the October 2009 KOTM. I stamped the dragonflies on Gina K luxury cardstock in soft sand, embossed them in gold, cut them out and spread Stickles all over them. Paper is Basic Grey (Fruitcake), and Gina K luxury cardstock in navy. Gina K ribbon, too. Hope you enjoy this little glimpse of warmer weather!

Don't forget to find that blinkie for your chance at free stamps!! Next on the list is JULIE!

Ildi Company - A Look Back

Wow... it's been a great ride with Ildi Company. I thought, rather than build something new (actually, I have a new project...but we'll save that!), we would take a little walk back. This company doesn't get a ton of hoopla, but I think that's unfortunate. In preparation for a three-company blog hop, it would be worthwhile to focus on the two that I work with weekly.

This was the very first project I created for Ildi Co. I love this bear. Clean lines, straightforward expression, clear sincerity. Yeah - everyone has their idea of the perfect "bear," but stuffed bears were based on Teddy Roosevelt, rather than on the animal. He was one of the most sincere presidents, in my eyes. He saw a world where animals had a job to do, and men survived on the appropriate use of animals. I can respect that.

My aunt had some gorgeous mass-reproduced art in her guest bedroom. They were a little hobo girl and a little hobo boy with the biggest eyes. They were in the room I always stayed in. I was mesmerized by those images. I found a similar, whimsical feel in the Clownkins' series, especially this sweetheart. This image reminded me of images from childhood - when the hobo kids were just beautiful art, not heartbreaking pictures of reality.

Lastly - there are these two images, combined into one project. I loved halloween - not for the fright part (tho I love a good scary story!), nor for the candy. I love halloween for the possibilities, and the things we don't know. For all the advances in our society, we are still rather limited in our knowledge beyond what we can see and touch. It's amazing to me how one artist can bring all of these concepts, textures, and possibilities to life in what many of us consider a relatively flat art.

Therefore, I implore you to visit Ildi Co's store, and see for yourself the lattitude of possibilities laying there for you to bring to life. I hope you have enjoyed this little peek back, and will be intrigued to stick around for the promises of the future.

A little memory and a little color!

Makes a big splash! Each Tuesday, Stamp TV has a scrapbook page challenge. It's always fun, and we always have a great project sample. Here's the one I did for this past week.

{click to enlarge}

These are just a couple pictures from my yard here at the beginning of fall. I love seeing the last few big flowers from my hollyhocks, and freshly picked apples on aspen logs. The smell of the air changes to a crisp, sweet coolness with hints of woodsmoke. Mmmmm....warm apple cider, big pots of stew or chili, warm cuddly sweaters. Heaven to me.

Here's a close up of the chipboard A (for Autumn). I covered it with matching paper, ran it through the cuttlebug in an embossing folder, then spattered it with some copper ink. It's layered over a Spellbinders Fleur De Lis pendant.

I used the Nestabilities rounded rectangles to create the base 2 layers of the journaling block. Then I stamped my Gina K leaves (Melanie Muenchinger's A Year of Leaves) over the Gina K luxury soft sand paper. I embossed the edges with the leaf folder in my cuttlebug. Using the Spellbinder's Fancy and Double Ended tags, I created journaling tags to layer over the journaling base.

Using the same stamp set, I cut out some leaves to scatter on the layout. I also used Holiday Greetings (Gina K Stamp TV set) to stamp the circle in the center of the layout. I hope you've enjoyed stopping by today.

There are just some days...

when nothing seems to go right! That was my day...so I'm posting a project I did some time ago for Sunshine's Stamps. I still love this image - it was the first I'd seen of its kind, and started my love for this stamp company!

{click to enlarge}

This is Angus Argus, and he's mine! Awhile back, there was a big debate on Splitcoast Stampers about whether digital images should be considered stamps. Stamping is the application of an image to surface. There are many ways an image can be applied to a surface, but to those of us who use them in art, once it's on the paper, it matters very little if it started as rubber, polymer, potato or clay. Rather than replay that argument (with many valid points made from both vantage points), lets focus on the finished projects! Afterall, it's just another tool in a stampers toolbox.

Ok - I'm gonna see if I can improve this day a little. Hope you enjoyed this little look back.

Friday Friends with Flair!

Ooops - I'm LATE!! So this will be short!

{click to enlarge}
I did this double page spread for my scripture scrapbook. I really enjoy putting these pages together because it involves a lot of journaling and reflection.

Hope you enjoyed your stop today. Remember to look for the hidden picture on your hop for your chance to win free stamps!!

Have a great day!

Yummy, Sweet Autumn!

I love fall. Love the colors, the temperatures, the beauty of the earth going to rest. I enjoy Halloween mostly for it's candy, stories, and the fun side of costumes. I'm just a big kid!

{click to enlarge}

I also have a black kitty. She thinks she's tough but she just a big soft heart with legs and a tail. So this card reminds me of her - her name is Scrap. She was just a scrap left over from the making of her litter mates, barely the size of a 3 week old kitty when her siblings were 6 weeks old. Later, she loved chasing wadded up pieces of paper from presents or scrapbooking...she's always been my scrap!

This image was created by Ildi Company as part of the halloweenie series. You can see them all at Ildi's shop. Keep checking back - we're going to have a joint hop with Sunshine's Stamps in November that you'll want to see! Hope you have a terrific day!

Friends with Flair Friday!

Hello again! Wow, these Fridays seem to come faster and faster, don't they? I think they know it's getting closer to Christmas, and I've not started my shopping. It's a conspiracy!

{click to enlarge}

I bought my husband a Teeter table. Heard of those? I'm not one to dive into every TV thing. However, I've spent enough time in physical therapy to know when something works. DH was running over 50 miles a week in his training for marathons. There were times he'd be walking along just fine, then drop to one knee unable to stand. Enter the Teeter. After about three days using it, his lower back pain, and associated failings, disappeared. Now - this is just what we experienced - I make no claims!!

The sketch for this layout was from Stamp TV. Really a simple layout, but very flexible. I hope you've enjoyed your stop here. Don't forget to look for the Unity FFF badge to enter to win free stamps!

A color challenge...

I made this card for the Stamp TV color challenge. Initially, I was stumped by a combination of light blue, cranberry, fresh asparagus (green) and white. I also wanted to try a new type of card, so this is my first attempt with Scor-Pal's upright Z card design.

{click to enlarge}

You should check out the challenges on Stamp TV. They are a lot of fun, and the prizes are awesome. By the way, this stamp set, Warm Winter Wishes, was drawn by Carolyn King for Gina K Designs. Cammie has committed all of her profits from this set to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of her Grandmother.

Oh - here's a side view of this card for a better concept of the card.

{click to enlarge}

I really like this style of card. I'm going to use this one again. It folds flat for shipping, but displays beautifully. I hope you like it! Have a terrific day!

Ildi Company Celebrates Thanksgiving

Hi folks! Many of you may not know that Monday was Thanksgiving in Canada. To me, this just signals that Oct 12 through Nov 29 should be official Thanksgiving season. A time when weight doesn't matter, and you can eat all you want calorie-free!! Yeah...I live in dreamland... Here's a little something for all my Canadian friends now, and for my US friends for next month.

{click to enlarge}

This image is from Ildi Company - it's Cuddles in Autumn Thanks. You can get yours at Ildi's Store! Isn't this a sweet picture? The sentiment and circle saying are from Gina K's latest releases.

This card makes me want to head to the kitchen to bake. So...I think that's where I'm headed. Hope you have a terrific Tuesday, and I really appreciate you stopping by! Don't forget about the blog candy!!

Sunshine's Sunny Bunny

Sunshine's Sunny Bunny is getting rave reviews! It's so versatile, it's no wonder how popular it is. I wanna see tons of this bun out there in blogdom. Do you have yours? What's your favorite?

{click to enlarge}

I call this one Captain Black Eared (after Captain Blackbeard). These just make me giggle. I used the sketch layout from World Card Making Day challenges on SCS. Oh - his 'real' name is Buccaneer Bunny... He should be the new mascot for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers!

Get This: Next Saturday...Sunshine will be celebrating the GRAND OPENING of the store! You wanna be there - prizes, a blog hop, challenges, FUN STUFF. Save the date!!

Ok - off to play with my real bunnies. Have a great weekend!

Friends with Flair Friday!

Welcome to another edition of Unity's Friends with Flair on Friday! There are 50 customers blogs, plus a few design team members, so you'll have a LOT of eye candy and inspiration!

If you just happened here, start at the beginning from Angela's blog.

{click to enlarge}

Our unofficial theme is to make a project about something edible. I love tea, and I adore tea pots! So this was just a perfect idea for a friend card! The colors in the pictures are a little skewed, this is rich razzleberry cardstock and cottage wall patterned paper from SU! The ribbon is Michael's, and I used my fancy tags die from Nestabilities. I used the current Card Positioning System sketch (#136) for the layout. And the stamps are from Unity's June Kit of the Month - Perfect in Every Way.

Remember - check everyone's blog posts out today (listed here) - one of them is hiding a surprise!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Have a great hop!!

Happy Haunting!

{click to enlarge}

Are you in the Halloween spirit? I am! We don't get many kids visiting our house where we live, though, so I'm fairly safe on the snack/treat/chocolate score.

This is part of the Halloweenies that Ildiko has created for Ildi Co images. I love the variety with this group! Seriously - you can represent just about anything from now to Christmas with this group. Go visit the store and see what all we have for you! And check out all the other Ildi Babes projects - links on the left!

Boobie Month!

Yep - it's that time to offer your SUPPORT to BOOBIES worldwide!

Smiley from millan.net

Sunshine's Stamps, and the Sunshine Gals want to celebrate all of those wonderful, courageous women who fought and won, and all those who fought and lost. Cancer sucks, but the people do not. They show the way to face obstacles and move on, to find the important things in each day, and to value people in their lives. Thanks to all the crafters, all the companies, and all the bloggers who are remembering this month.

You owe it to yourself to go Get 'Em Squished! Boobie Bunny wants to get you there with a smile! I know a few gals who actually make this trip to the mammogram machine into a party. Party on!

{click to enlarge}

As you can see, Boobie has her night on the town planned. She's got her dancin' dress and her bling, some bright lipstick and is looking for someone to help her celebrate! I'm sure she's got a rockin' handbag filled with CHOCOLATE carrots, too! Go on - meet her at the club, have a great dinner out, treat yourself for doing good for you!

Welcome to the Bunny Nest! I host rescued animals in a small in-home setting. Currently, I host 3 bunnies and 2 kitties. These animals will be socialized and housed for the entirety of their lives in my home. They inspire my crafts, and I use any proceeds to pay for their needs. Thanks for visiting!
