CHAPTER 31: Fighting for the CROWN

`Why the Lion and the Unicorn, of course,' said the King. 

`Fighting for the crown?'

`Yes, to be sure,' said the King: `and the best of the joke is, that it's my crown all the while! Let's run and see them.' And they trotted off, Alice repeating to herself, as she ran, the words of the old song: 

`The Lion and the Unicorn were fighting for the crown:

The Lion beat the Unicorn all round the town.

Some gave them white bread, some gave them brown;

Some gave them plum-cake and drummed them out of town.'

This is the bunny queen. She is a mystical, mythical creature, but you've gotta love her style! She's got a gorgeous crown, is surrounded by affirmative words, and you've got to love that pierced ear! I had so much fun making this page! This is a 5x7 art journal page, and I used lots of paint, pan pastels, stamps, writing, melt art (UTEE), stickles, fibres and even an abalone heart shell!

CHAPTER 30: Hey there, Nice Stems...

Just as Alice said this, she noticed that one of the trees had a door leading right into it. `That's very curious!' she thought. `But everything's curious today. I think I may as well go in at once.' And in she went.

Once more she found herself in the long hall, and close to the little glass table. `Now, I'll manage better this time,' she said to herself, and began by taking the little golden key, and unlocking the door that led into the garden.

Then she went to work nibbling at the mushroom (she had kept a piece of it in her pocked) till she was about a foot high: then she walked down the little passage: and THEN--she found herself at last in the beautiful garden, among the bright flower-beds and the cool fountains..."

Hello out there! It's a lovely day here in Wonderland and we are celebrating the summer with a nature theme today! Well, TREES and FLOWERS to be more exact! We scored a GREAT sketch sponsored by PAGEMAPS today that is just perfect for today's theme:

Just take a look at how much fun I had with this amazing sketch:

I made this paper using alcohol inks on glossy paper. I drew on Cheshire's smile and eyes...thanks to my posse for the idea!

I made these textural pieces using modeling paste, various distress inks, and homemade glimmermist. I stamped Tim Holtz' rabbit in cocoa memento, embossed with copper powder and colored with copics and distress inks.

I reinforced the time theme using Tim Holtz' clockface mask with walnut distress ink. I put two Graphic 45 images of the Red Queen under acrylic frames and hung them on twill ribbon.

I hope you enjoy this project. It's an 8x10 page in my art journal, and I completed this page online with input from several of my friends through Ustream. We really had a great time configuring this page together.

Feeling Inspired?

Hello all my friends! I know you're a Unity Addict because you are here - and because you're an addict, you know the best value in stamps is continually brought to you from Unity! 

This week, we have an inspiration challenge for you! This interesting photo has tons of neat components that you can draw from. You could use the colors, the arched doorway, the plants, the hanging flags...you could be clever and "dream up" what the building's purpose is and make a project along those lines. There are lots of options!

This is my little project, inspired by the photo. I loved the colors (which I didn't exactly have in my inks) and the rustic construction (see the cinder blocks on the side?). I pondered what this building was - a home that doubled as a worship site? I love the church bells! Hmmm. So that's kind of the thinking behind the tag.

I used one of my Tim Holtz texture fades on a #13 tag, and distress inks to approximate the building colors. I used the Ippity set, What Matters Most, with Memento Tuxedo Black ink for the images. I added gems from my IRock collection (did I mention that I ♥ this tool?), a felt flower from Papertrey Ink's die cuts, and some ribbon, button and fiber to top it off.

I hope you like my little project. It's so nice to finally have access to more of my supplies. Oh - I received the latest shipment of Ippity stamp sets, so you know I can supply your needs! I'll be posting images and prices soon!

CHAPTER 29: What makes you SHINE?

'Why, what are YOUR shoes done with?' said the Gryphon. `I mean, what makes them so shiny?'


Alice looked down at them, and considered a little before she gave her answer. `They're done with blacking, I believe.'

`Boots and shoes under the sea,' the Gryphon went on in a deep voice, `are done with a whiting. Now you know.'

`And what are they made of?' Alice asked in a tone of great curiosity.

`Soles and eels, of course,' the Gryphon replied rather impatiently: `any shrimp could have told you that.'

`If I'd been the whiting,' said Alice, whose thoughts were still running on the song, `I'd have said to the porpoise, "Keep back, please: we don't want YOU with us!"'

`They were obliged to have him with them,' the Mock Turtle said: `no wise fish would go anywhere without a porpoise.'

`Wouldn't it really?' said Alice in a tone of great surprise.

Isn't this the cutest grungy gift bag?? And sooooo simple! I saw the tutorial on the Hero Arts blog, and immediately "needed" to make it! It's made from an ENVELOPE!

Can you see all the bling? I used stamps from Tim Holtz, and glittered up the grunge with Perfect Pearls. I colored Charlotte with Copic markers, then added perfect pearls to her apron and scarf. I used my really cool Imaginisce I-Rock tool to make her earring (love this product!).
